The Start of the Club, the Start of a Series
May 21, 2015 was a big day for the Secret Friends Club -- the launch of the new series. As the title indicates, it is the beginning of something on a much grander scale.
Now the authors are officially unfolding part of their master plan: an exciting 20-book series of adventure/mystery books for girls ages 7+ . Each title is to be written from a different fictional girl's perspective, allowing readers a chance to relate to each member of the club individually.
A big advantage of this method is the opportunities it will present girls to identify characters with whom they share common traits. The storylines are carefully crafted to tell how the club members grow to overcome their personality differences and solve problems together. This is a running theme through the series. As the collection grows, the plan is to make more information available about each Secret Friend online.
The books are written to alternate between adventures and mysteries. The first book, The Start of the Club, fits more into the adventure category. The newly formed club must battle challenges to stay in existence. (For a more detailed summary, check out Janet Brown's page). The second book, planned to come out later this year, is a mystery. Shhh . . . it's a bit of a surprise, although our website does have a brief teaser. The adventures focus more on ideas, working together, and friendship, though the mysteries have some similar elements, while encouraging critical thinking.
Best of all, the series is written from a Christian worldview. There is no objectionable language used, and themes, dialogue, and settings are always appropriate for children. In the mysteries, criminals always receive justice. The club members' mistakes are not lauded as triumphs, but rather show familiar character flaws that all girls are prone to.
So with that said, what are you waiting for? Are you ready to embark on this grand adventure with the Secret Friends?
